One of my patients is 11 months old and his parents have been told that he's not expected to live past 18 months. He doesn't look like he's almost one (he still wears size 1 diapers), but you can tell in his eyes. He's very aware.
Usually he cries all day, because no one is there with him (makes me mad at the parents), but today, he was content. Today, he looked healthy. Today, I had hope that maybe he'll make it past 18 months and prove the doctors wrong. I sure hope so.
